Berke, who ruled Golden Horde from 1257 to 1266, was the first Muslim leader of any Mongol khanates. كان بركة خان، الذي حكم القبيلة الذهبية بين عاميّ 1257 و1266، أول قائد مغولي مسلم للخانات المغولية.

She moved from Aleppo to Berke, Lebanon, where on March 25, 1750 she founded her own religious order entitled to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a Western devotion she imported among the Maronites and that made forthwith success. انتقلت هندية من حلب إلى بركة خان في لبنان، حيث أسست نظامها الديني الخاص"عن قلب يسوع الأقدس" في 25 مارس 1750، وأنجحه تفاني وإخلاص المارون الغرب تجاهها.
Two years later he returned to his lands in Persia, but was distracted and prevented from dealing with the Mamluks when Berke carried through on the threat to war against his cousin so as to avenge the sack of Baghdad. فعاد بعد سنتين إلى أرضه في فارس، إلا أنه وقع في ربكة، فلم يتمكن من القيام بمواجهة ضخمة ضد المماليك بعدما نفذ بركة خان تهديده بشن الحرب ضد ابن عمه انتقاما لتدميره بغداد.
Although aware of Berke's conversion to Islam, Hulagu, after conquering Persia, destroyed Baghdad in 1258, added Iraq to the Mongol Empire, advanced towards Syria and Mamluk Sultanate, and began a war of attrition against the Mamluk Sultanate. ومع أن هولاكو كان على علم باعتناق بركة خان الإسلام، إلا أنه وبعد غزوه لبلاد فارس فقد دمر بغداد في 1258، وألحق العراق إلى إمبراطورية المغول متقدما باتجاه سوريا وسلطنة المماليك وبدأ بحرب استنزاف ضد المماليك.
